Goldgenie (formerly Midas Touch International) was founded in 1995 by London entrepreneur Laban Roomes.

Laban borrowed money to develop a pioneering portable gold-plating machine and chemicals then rapidly developed a niche market in the auto-industry, gold-plating car emblems for Lexus, Honda and Toyota dealerships nationwide.

Over time he expanded the Goldgenie product and service range to include personal items like jewellery, golf clubs, Nokia mobile phones and also a variety of household objects including high-end bath taps and fittings.

He hit the headlines as the UK’s ‘Ring Bling King’ when he was invited to Hollywood’s  glittering ‘Emmy’ Awards to distribute over fifty gold-plated mobile phones to top stars like Helen Mirren and Denzel Washington.

Later he was commissioned to gold-plate artefacts in a London-based Hindu temple and went on to be mentored by Simon Woodroffe, the Yo!Sushi  Japanese restaurant founder and champion of young British talent.

Recently Laban appeared on TV’s Dragons’ Den – a programme in which wealthy business people invest time and money in attractive business propositions.

Multi-millionaire James Caan agreed to back  Goldgenie and more importantly Laban as an individual in developing a Goldgenie brand of luxury gold plated gifts which included an extended online shopping service for an innovative range of items such as real gold plated roses, four-leaf clovers, Havana cigars, Apple iPods, iPhones and golf putters.
