Buy a Gold iPhone, or Customise the One You Have?

Client holding a bespoke luxury iPhone customised by Goldgenie

Both get you the same object. They cost different amounts and carry different warranties, and which is right depends on the phone you are holding now.

Route one: buy one finished

We supply customised iPhones directly. You choose the model, specification and finish, and it arrives done.

  • Priced per model on the product pages — the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max range from £2,197, the Infinity edition from £4,797, and the customised iPhone Duo, Apple's foldable, from £7,497

  • Includes the handset

  • Carries a lifetime warranty

  • Import duties and taxes paid in advance, so nothing is owed on delivery

The Duo and the Infinity edition exist only on this route — neither can be produced on a handset you send in.

Route two: send us the phone you already own

We customise your existing handset in your chosen finish, at 5 microns.

Model Price
iPhone 18 £1,900
iPhone 17 £1,600
iPhone 16 £1,400
  • Your choice of 24K gold, rose gold or platinum

  • Insured pick-up and insured return delivery included

  • Carries a three-year warranty, subject to applicable warranty terms and normal exclusions

The comparison people get wrong

The service price looks much cheaper than the product price. It is not a like-for-like comparison, because the product price includes the phone and the service price does not.

Add what your handset cost to the service price, and you have the real comparison. Watch out our luxury iPhone Collection.

Bespoke phone customisation service at Goldgenie

Which makes sense

Customise your own if you already have a current handset you are happy with, you do not want to transfer everything to a new device, and you want the lower cash outlay.

Buy one finished if you were going to upgrade anyway, you want the longer warranty, or you want a model, specification or edition you do not currently own — the Infinity edition is limited to 200 numbered pieces and cannot be produced on a phone you send in.

Neither, yet if you are planning to change handset within a few months. Customising a phone you are about to replace is money spent on a device on its way out. We would rather say so now than take the order.

What customising does not affect

Your data, your setup and your apps. The work is on the housing — we are not touching the software, and the phone comes back as the phone you sent.

Both routes, same workshop

Goldgenie has customised devices in precious metals since 1995, and the work is hand-finished in London and Dubai. Whichever route you take, it is the same hands and the same process.

See both options on the luxury iPhone page.

FAQs

Is it cheaper to customise my own iPhone than to buy a gold one?

The service price is lower, but it does not include the handset. Add what your phone cost to the service price for a true comparison.

What warranty do I get on each route?

An iPhone purchased from Goldgenie carries a lifetime warranty. Customisation of a phone you already own carries a three-year warranty, subject to applicable warranty terms and normal exclusions

Will I lose my data if I send my phone to be customised?

No. The work is on the housing. Your data and setup are unaffected and the phone returns as the phone you sent.

How much does it cost to customise my own iPhone?

£1,900 for an iPhone 18, £1,600 for an iPhone 17 and £1,400 for an iPhone 16, in 24K gold, rose gold or platinum, insured collection and return included.

Can I have the Infinity edition or a Duo made on my own phone?

No. Infinity is a limited numbered edition of 200 and the customised iPhone Duo starts from £7,497 — both are supplied as finished products rather than as a service on a customer's handset.

Should I customise a phone I am about to replace?

Probably not. If you expect to change handset within a few months, the money is better spent on the next device.
