King Kennedy tells the story of the political lives and times of President John F Kennedy, Dr Martin Luther King Jr and Senator Robert Kennedy; three of the western world’s most charismatic and influential political leaders. Their story is set at a moment in time in the 1960’s where there was potential for huge political and social change, particularly in the United States . All three men were catalysts for change.
The film is made entirely from archive material with no narration.
The film has taken many years of research and editing. It was not possible to work from a script. We viewed over 700 hours of footage to find the right clips which would piece together to tell a coherent and fluid story.
We started out making a conspiracy movie and ended up making an inspirational one.
The film works so well because it includes a lot of private family footage. This allows the audience to see these iconic men as mortal human beings and not remote, enabling us to empathise with the characters so when they are killed the impact is so much greater. As some members of the audience have said – “bring your tissues”.
It is a film with no narration yet with a compelling narrative.
It is a story from yesterday with a message for today.
It is a film with no actors yet full of charismatic characters.
