Elvis Presley's Gold Grand Piano

Elvis isn’t here anymore, but his gorgeous 24 carat gold piano is!  I have the upmost admiration for people who play the piano, it’s a beautiful talent. Many a times I have watched platinum stars Alicia Keys and John Legend deliver first class performances and wished I had command of the musical language. As a child my mother kindly arranged for me to take more than a few lessons… I passed my preparatory exam and managed to teach myself a few Whitney Houston songs. There is a musical genius within me yet I tell you!

Now this gold grand piano is possibly one of the most exquisite musical instruments on the planet, music met luxury the day this was created. Elvis Presley bought it in 1957 and the gold leaf plating came when Priscilla secretly removed the piano from storage and hired European professionals to refinish it in 24ct. gold in 1968, for their first anniversary. The piano is covered in 24-carat gold leaf both inside and out. It was placed in the music room at Graceland. Often referred to as the “King of Rock and Roll” or simply “The King” Elvis Aaron Presley passed away on the 16th of August 1977. The piano was due to be auctioned this year and my brain can’t even begin to calculate how much it could sell for; a gold piano, owned by Legend Elvis Presley??? We’re talking Am Ex black cards here!

I was by no means a Mozart but I showed potential… so much so, I have decided I shall pick up with the piano lessons where I left off. Look out for my video blogs and in the meantime follow me on twitter: @AllThingzNice
